From the cashmere goat — not from sheep. It winters on the high plateaus of Mongolia at temperatures down to minus 30 degrees, and grows a fine, dense undercoat beneath its coarse outer hair to survive it. In spring that undercoat is combed out by hand, around 150 grams per animal per year. We use only Grade-A fibers of 14 to 16 microns, two-ply spun.

Grade-A refers to the longest and finest cashmere fibers. They make the knit more durable — it grows softer with wear instead of losing its shape.
