Knit Pants in Merino and Cashmere
Knitted, but not sweatpants. A pair of knit pants stands or falls with the waistband: too soft and the piece looks like the sofa; too tight and it pulls at the waist. Ours is broadly ribbed and has no drawstring — it holds without digging in, and adds no bulk when a sweater sits over it.
Why the leg is wide
So the knit drapes instead of clinging to the leg. The wide, straight leg gives the pants the line of tailored trousers. What usually makes knit pants look like loungewear is narrow legs and drawstrings — neither is here. That is why they work with a flat shoe as well as with a heel.
Sizing and everyday wear
The pants run small — take one size above your usual. If you normally wear a 38, take a 40 here. That applies above all to the waistband. Over the course of a day, knit gives a little at the knees and seat; laid flat overnight, the fabric draws back together.
Material and care
95% merino wool, 5% cashmere, brushed. Merino holds its shape better than pure cashmere and is more hard-wearing — for a pair of pants that takes a lot of friction, that is the right choice. Hand wash cold or use the wool cycle at 30 °C, dry flat.
