I'm Marlen, 36 years old and one half of the female founding team of SAINTE MER

Together we have 35 years of experience in fashion production and sourcing, during which time we have built up many big well-known brands as well as own brands. We have known our cashmere suppliers for 15+ years and appreciate their high quality and can rely on fair working conditions in the production country. At least once a year we visit our production sites in Asia.

My co-founder and I brought SAINTE MER to life because we particularly appreciate cashmere as a clothing material. No other fiber is so soft, light and breathable at the same time and has that incomparable fluffy look without being unnecessarily bulky and heavy.

With a lot of courage and entrepreneurial spirit, we fulfilled our long-cherished dream of founding our own cashmere label with great attention to detail in the middle of the year. We want to produce the best cashmere qualities for our customers and they are inspired to put items in their closet that contain valuable materials. We know from our own experience how often the soft, slightly more expensive cashmere favorite scarf is used compared to the quickly forgotten fast fashion scarf, if the quality is right.

SAINTE MER stands for quality, timeless design and the most beautiful colors of the season.

And here are 3 facts about me

Fact 1 - Creative and Business

I studied fashion management in England and then worked for About You, Samsoe & Samsoe and Zalando in operational purchasing. There is no job that would have suited me and my abilities better.

Fact 2 - Great love for animals

I love animals and would love to have two goats and at least one donkey. When I first saw penguins on the beach in Simon's Town 18 years ago, I couldn't believe my luck. Since then, penguins have been my absolute favorite animals and nothing will change that anytime soon.

Fact 3 – Eight countries

I was born and grew up in the Spreewald. When I was 16, I was allowed to go to Cape Town for a year as an exchange student. In the photo above you can see me at Boulders Beach about 2 years ago. After that it is probably easier to list my stations chronologically: Madrid, Australia, England, Paris, Berlin, Hamburg, Copenhagen and back to Berlin. I have been living and working with my boyfriend on a Greek island for a year and I love the relaxed Mediterranean lifestyle.
